The Jaipur Literature Festival is considered to be Asia’s leading literature event & undoubltely, the biggest completely free festival of literature in the world. It is a celebration of National and International writers and encompasses a range of activities including film, music and theatre.

The festivities continue at the 5th edition of Jaipur Literature Festival as the crowd keep increasing day after day to meet their favourite authors and artists again at Diggi palace.

The festival, which is now in its fifth year, showcased a wonderful mix of talks, panel discussions, lectures and readings by renowned authors from across the globe along with amazing evenings of World music concerts throughout the festival.

The Jaipur Literature Festival, which is rightly acclaimed as"The Greatest Literary Show On Earth”( by Tina Brown, Editor of The Daily Beast), showcased the best of Indian-language and English writing from India, along with hosting a Nobel laureate, a winner of the Samuel Johnson Prize, two Booker winners and five winners of the Pulitzer prize for Literature, as well as leading writers from the world of history, biography, literary criticism, and travel, in addition to the stars of the world of fiction and the novel. This year's participating Writers included Hanif Kureishi, Niall Ferguson, Louis De Bernieres, Roberto Calasso, Amit Chaudhuri, Geoff Dyer, Vikram Chandra, Tina Brown, Claire Tomalin, Michael Frayn, Mahasweta Devi, Shobhaa De Indira Goswami, Krishna Sobti, Krishna Baldev Vaid, Steve Coll, Stephen Frears, Pavan Varma, Lawrence Wright, Christophe Jaffrelot, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, and Alexander McCall Smith. One of the nicer Objective of this festival was not only to allow readers the opportunity to interact with established and new writers, but also with those who are unknown and whose works are personally admired by the established authors & writers.Other highlights of the festival included readings from Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq by acclaimed actor Om Puri, performances by Titi Robin, Cheb I Sabbah, Susheela Raman, Djaima, Rajasthan Roots and Paban Das Baul, and readings and performances from William Dalrymple’s Nine Lives. There were many more events & sessions worth mentioning apart from the mentioned above but as they say one should see it to beleive it !
